My journey into vaping

Day 144: Innokin iClear 16D Bottom Dual-Coil (BDC) 1.6ml eGo Clearomizer

A week or so back this clearomizer was mentioned on VTTV as it had been included with the Itaste DRV in car VV/VW device. It was given their mark of approval for new vapers and more experienced vapers alike. The magpie part of my soul was intrigued so I got myself one, filled it with 50/50 12mg RY4 juice and put it on my Dragon etched 900mAh ego battery from Liberty Flights. I lived with it in my rotation for about a week.

It’s an ego threaded duel coil bottom coil clearo with replaceable coil heads, which Innokin have designed for use in ego threaded VV/VW devices. It comes in three different resistances, the one I have is 2.1 ohm. There are three tiny airholes in the side of the base so air isn’t blocked connecting it to a battery. It’s available in a rainbow of assorted colours, making matching your clearo to your battery an easy job.

On first look you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a disposable. With no drip tip or removable mouthpiece, the body of the clearo is in one piece polycarbonate (beware tank-cracker juices) all the way down to the coil head in the base. The chimney runs up through the centre, and you can see into that too, so any juice or condensation in there is easily visible. Filling is through the base, and while it’s not as easy to avoid getting juice in the chimney as most, once filled this thing is almost leak-proof. I’ve never had a dry hit from it and vapour production is thick, moist rich and flavourful without becoming harsh. For out and about on an ego style battery, this is really rather pleasant.

I put it on my VTR with the extension tube on so I had ego threading. At 8 watts it is producing like a mini protank. You can take your long slow clearomizer inhales against a bit of airway resistance, for a nice smooth vape. Turning the wattage up produces the real surprise though. At 10 watts it sings, enhancing the flavours in the juice and producing lovely rich vapour. The real surprise is that it’s still vapeable at 15 watts, although I wouldn’t try chain vaping at that heat because it does get a bit hot at the base, it survived it and wasn’t bad at all. If you’re buying a polycarbonate ego threaded clearomizer to go on a VV/VW device I’d suggest this one.
